Our institution is the main referral center for paediatric oncology services in Egypt, since its opening in 2007, with a capacity of 300 beds dedicated only to children with tumors. We also accept referrals from nearby countries. The candidates often begin with an orientation of the surgical oncology department and other facilities. The trainees in our center have the opportunity to assist and participate daily in the major and complex operative procedures. The fellows are exposed to the surgical management of liver, renal, and germ cell tumors in addition to neuroblastoma, sarcomas, pancreatic, and chest tumors. Endocrine and rare tumors and minimally invasive procedures are also included in the training program. The trainees also can perform minor surgeries under close supervision and attend the daily surgical clinic. Additionally, they attend weekly tumor board and surgical council. They also participate in the monthly journal club and morbidity and mortality meeting. We always plan to involve our fellows in the research work and solid tumors study teams. Our training program is dedicated to both, junior paediatric surgeons or junior oncology surgeons who would like to be specialized in paediatric surgical oncology.
